Speaker
A translator by profession, I’ve worked in the Localization industry for the last 28 years in different capacities. I started off my career as a freelance translator from English into Spanish until I moved to Ireland in 2000 to join the then Berlitz GlobalNet as a Translation Specialist for Spanish. The next phase of my career saw me co-ordinating translation for ≤100 languages. In 2006, I took a role as Vendor Manager for into English (UK, AU and NZ) in Lionbridge, formerly Berlitz GlobalNet and Bowne Global Solutions. In 2008, I joined WeLocalize as VM for Eastern European Languages. Between 2012 and 2018, I worked as a freelance vendor quality manager/co-ordinator for Moravia and WeLocalize, and was the reviewer for Spanish and sign-off step for Brazilian Portuguese for the digital collection of the Library of Congress of the US. For the LoC I usually translated from Catalan, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Valencian into English. While that content was not directly published, it helped the librarians create the items for the digital collection. In 2019, I joined Amazon, first as a Translation Specialist in AWS Data Center Localization, and later as a Localization Program Manager in C2S2 Learning Design.
