Etienne Verstraelen

Etienne has been in the translation industry for over 20 years as a translator, reviser and service manager. In Canada, he completed a Bachelor of Communication at Montreal University, a Master’s of Written Communication at Sherbrooke University and a Postgraduate Diploma of Administration at the ENAP. He is currently pursuing the AI for Business Executive Diploma at the Saïd Business School of Oxford University, for which he received the Director’s Award. He is also a published author.
Over the course of his career, he worked for the Yamanashi Prefecture’s Department of International Affairs, in Japan, managed 2 translation services for the British Columbia and the Yukon governments, in Canada, and is now managing the translation service of the Global Fund, in Geneva. Over the past few years, he has been working on the creation of a translation partnership between Global Health organizations within the Global Health Campus, recently expanding the scope of the Global Fund’s translation service to support Unitaid and preparing the ground for other organizations to join.
Etienne has a keen interest for innovation, process improvement and leveraging human expertise and technical efficiency to support humanitarian and environmental programs.
